STORY: CONFUSED LANGUAGES

CONFUSED LANGUAGES

Once upon a time a group of friends (Rabbit, Fox, Tiger, Cat and Elephant) were playing football in the playground. Suddenly, Rabbit threw the ball into the forbidden forest. They were very scared, but Fox decided to go in with all their friends. They went into the forest and they found a very old house and inside the house they found a Book of Spells. Tiger, opened it and saw a page with the picture of a witch. Then, he read one of the spells : ‘Abracadabra 1,2,3...witch appear here’.

Tiger turned into a witch. Then, the witch said some words and captured all the animals except Fox who ran away back to the park.  He went to ask for help but no one understood him. Fox remembered that the witch said a spell and he went to the wise man who could understand all the languages of animals and helped him.

There was a tulip that can only be found at the top of  Dead Mountain. So, Fox and the wise man climbed to the mountain and they found the antidote. He took it and went back to the town and gave their friends the antidote.

Since then, Tiger turned back into his original form and Fox decided to open a Language Academy so everybody could speak with each other.

Pronunciation of the ending -ed in the Simple Past

In the Simple Past we add -ed to regular verbs. Be careful pronuncing the verbs:
1) verbs ending in -ed preceded by a voiceless consonant [p, k, f, ʃ, ʧ, s, θ]
-> speak [t].
The -e is silent. Example: I stop - I stopped [stɒpt]

2) verbs ending in -ed preceded by a voiced consonant [b, g, v, ʒ, ʤ, z, ð, l, m, n] or a vowel
-> speak [d].
The -e is silent. Example: I clean - I cleaned [kli:nd]

3) verbs ending in -ed preceded by [t] or [d]
-> speak [ɪd].
The -e changes to [ɪ]. Example: I visit - I visited [vɪzɪtɪd]

Irregular Verbs

Many verbs, such as "have," take irregular forms in the Simple Past. Notice that you only use the irregular verbs in statements. In negative forms and questions, "did" indicates Simple Past.

To Be

The verb "be" is also irregular in the Simple Past. Unlike other irregular verbs, there are two Simple Past forms: "was" and "were." It also has different question forms and negative forms. Always remember that you DO NOT use "did" with the verb "be" in the Simple Past.

The School Day of Non-violence and Peace was founded by the Spanish poet Llorenç Vidal Vidal in Mayorca in 1964 as a starting point and support for a pacifying and non-violent education of a permanent character.  
The "School Day of Non-violence and Peace" (DENIP) is observed on January 30 on the anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi, in schools all over the world. Its basic and permanent message is: "Universal love, non-violence and peace. Universal love is better than egoism, non-violence is better than violence, and peace is better than war". In Navarra the slogan for the 2009 was "above all, we are friends".
